LLT Academies, a charter school in Tampa, Florida has become a CoE school. It is being implemented in the 2009/10 school year in select middle school and high school classes, according to Sharon Green, Director of Professional Development at the school. Welcome aboard!

Coastal Academy Has a Field Day with the 8 Keys of Excellence
Students and teachers at Coastal Academy in Oceanside started their Communities of Excellence year off with a field day held at a local park. The day was designed to introduce everyone to the 8 Keys. At the event, students were invited to rotate between eight different stations to grasp a better understanding of the 8 Keys of Excellence. View pictures

CoE Teacher Training Day A Huge Success
Training for teachers at the four Oceanside, CA schools launching Communities of Excellence – Living the 8 Keys in 2009 took place at Learning Forum International headquarters on August 25. Facilitator Amy Smith taught teachers the 8 Keys, gave them a sample Key lesson, and demonstrated the 8 Keys body motions. LFI President, Bobbi DePorter talked to the group about “excellence” and QLN COO, Mark Reardon, spoke on the subject of character. Character Development Teacher Training Set
Teacher training for teachers at the four Communities of Excellence – Living the 8 Keys character development program launch schools will take place at Learning Forum International headquarters on August 25. At the teacher training, teachers will learn how to deliver Key lessons and how to integrate the 8 Keys into their classroom curriculum and environment.
CoE Launch Event A Huge Success
Communities of Excellence – Living the 8 Keys officially launched on June 16 with a special 90-minute event at the QLN Conference Center in Oceanside, California. The global initiative kicks off in Oceanside in August with four schools in the Oceanside Unified School District participating. Read more on the launch event.
First Four CoE Schools Named
The first four schools to participate in the Communities of Excellence character development program launch in Oceanside this fall have been named. They are Garrison Elementary School, Reynolds Elementary School, Coastal Academy, and Jefferson Middle School.
Four Founding Partners Sign On
Thanks to the support of four Founding Partners, the Communities of Excellence – Living the 8 Keys character initiative will launch in Oceanside, California in the 2009/10 school year. The four Founding Partners are BAE Systems, California Bank & Trust, X7 Media Group Incorporated, and Quantum Learning Network. |
